Protecting Pets During the Têt Period: A Growing Threat

As the Lunar New Year approaches, there’s an alarming rise in dog and cat thefts in Vietnam. Pet owners are increasingly sharing distressing stories of their beloved companions being stolen or killed, often right from their homes. The demand for dog and cat meat spikes during this time, prompting thieves to act earlier in the day, putting pets at greater risk.
We are strongly urging pet owners to take extra precautions during this vulnerable period.

A Year of Compassion: Our 2024 Achievements

We are deeply grateful for the continued support from our partners, donors, fosters, adopters, rescue helpers, and the community. Thanks to their generosity, we’ve been able to make a significant impact on the lives of animals in need. Read on to discover some of the key milestones we achieved this year

Keep Your Pet Safe from Poison and Theft

As we move through 2024, it’s deeply troubling to see that pet theft continues to plague our local communities. Sadly, the Dog and Cat meat trade in central Vietnam still thrives, leaving families devastated and confused over the loss of their beloved pets.

The Companion Animal Protection and Safety Program (CAPS)

In May, Paws for Compassion launched this new project with a trial phase in Hoi An: 100 free microchips are provided to pet owners. The microchip number with the owner’s information will be entered into our Pet Database, accessible to selected pet stores and vet clinics to keep personal information safe.
We hope this project gains traction so that we can work with the authorities to do more for our lost and stolen pets in Central Vietnam.

The Cat House Is Moving : Our Rescues Need Your Help!

We needed a bigger place to accommodate our ever-growing population of feline friends, and dreamed of a beautiful outside space for them.

After months of searching for a new home for our kitties, our team is excited to announce that we found an ideal place…but it needs A LOT of work

Unchain A Dog Month : Friends Don’t Chain Friends

January is Unchain A Dog Month. This campaign was created in order to spread awareness about the damaging effects that chaining has on dogs. Dogs are naturally social beings who need interaction with humans and/or other animals. Being restrained for long periods of time can severely damage their physical and psychological well-being.

Wrapping up 2023: Thank you for being part of this journey

Thanks to the unwavering support and generosity of our donors, partners and friends, we were able to make a significant positive impact on the welfare of companion animals in central Việt Nam.
We are pleased to share some of our achievements for 2023.
