An Thượng: A Growing Community for Pets and People
An Thượng, Da Nang is a vibrant, fast-growing neighbourhood just a short stroll from My Khe Beach. Known for its relaxed vibe, international community, and mix of cosy cafés, restaurants, bars, and co-working spaces, it’s become a favourite for both locals and expats looking for a laid-back lifestyle with everything close by.
As the neighbourhood grows, so does its furry population. While many residents and pets coexist peacefully, challenges have emerged. Concerns from both pet owners and other residents include pet poisoning and theft linked to the dog meat trade, a lack of clearly marked pet-friendly spaces, and issues around cleanliness and responsible ownership.
🐶 Our Project
At Paws for Compassion, we’re on a mission to make An Thượng safer, cleaner, and more welcoming for pets, their people, and the wider community.
We’re working to build an environment where pet owners and non-pet owners can coexist respectfully. Our goals include:
– Reducing the risk of poisoning and pet theft
– Promoting responsible pet ownership
– Providing poop bags, poop bins and ensuring that all dogs have access to fresh water.
But that’s not all! We’re also providing free rabies vaccinations and sterilisation for both local pets and stray animals to help protect the health of the entire community.
